An Action Packed Day

Today was an action packed day to say the least. We got up around 6:15 a.m. and haven't slowed down until now.

We drove to McLean, Virginia and went to an awesome park (Clemyjontri Park) that I had heard about. We met Benjamin and Samuel's future part-time temporary baby sitter there with her two boys, Hunter who is 4 1/2 and Jake who is 18 months. Her name is Rie and she will take care of the boys while Natalie (their current sitter) is on maternity leave. Her husband is in the Navy. There are not a ton of military here in this area that we live in but I'm running into more and more! Anyway, Rie seems really great and the boys had a ball together. They were both asking if they could have each other over as we were getting ready to leave. (Photo of Hunter and Benj above...playing in an airplane at the Clemyjontri Park).

I would say the park was worth the long drive but I wouldn't do it every week...and maybe not again until it cools off a bit. Samuel managed to fall asleep in his stroller while we were there. We spent about 2 hours there and it got miserably hot. We stayed and had a picnic lunch in the shade and then were off for home. I was really surprised Benjamin didn't pass out on the car ride home. He stayed awake then took about a two hour nap. Sometime in that time frame I managed to snap this photo of Samuel enjoying his jumper that goes in the door frame. He loves it! Samuel napped too but somehow I missed out on a nap today. A few things to do around the house (somebody has to pay the bills! err...write the checks anyways).

So, this afternoon we went up to the neighborhood pool around 5 p.m. We had a great time playing with some neighbor kids. We stayed for about 2 hours! And our neighbor, Paristu (who has a 5 year old son, Daryan) was a huge help. Samuel ended up falling asleep in his stroller and Paristu kept Benjamin afloat in the pool while he played with Daryan and Abby. I'm including a pic of Daryan and Benjamin...they were pretty fascinated with these snorkels this evening. You can see Benjamin's wheels turning in this head as he tries to figure out how to use the snorkel.

Then after that (as if we didn't do enough today)...we decided to go up to Moe's for burritos with Paristu and Daryan. Benjamin loves Moe's. Every time we drive by Moe's he points it out and shouts "There's Moe's!!!" He and Daddy-O had made a few trips there together to pick up food for us. I think this was the first time we actually sat and ate there. It was fun. Although Benjamin was a lil restless and rowdy at times. He did eat all his quesadilla and half of Daryan's plus a cookie! He was a hungry boy tonight.

It was funny because tonight as we were pulling into Moe's, Benjamin shouted out his traditional "Look! There's Moe's" and I could swear Samuel said "Moey". I asked Benjamin what Samuel said and he said "Moe's". So, two eye witnesses accounts of Samuels first unofficial word. "Moe's."

Well, let's just hope they sleep past 6:30 a.m. tomorrow. I could really use a good morning snooze!
